Standard tools often reach a technical limit when navigating the steep transitions of high-relief carving or deep hollowing. This 7-piece Expanded Mastery SET is specifically curated to bridge that gap. By combining traditional straight gouges with specialized long-bent and spoon-neck (Klukarsa) geometries, this kit provides a complete mechanical system for reaching the base of deep cavities and clearing backgrounds without the handle interfering with the workpiece.

Workshop Logic

The curation of this set follows a "depth-first" logic. In 3D relief, the primary bottleneck is often the inability to maintain a clean, level background once the carving exceeds 2cm in depth. We have paired a 10mm flat chisel and a #5 sweep for establishing the initial planes with a Klukarsa and a Long-Bent #7. These specialized bent shanks allow for an aggressive cutting angle in deep recesses, effectively eliminating the grain-tearing that occurs when forcing a straight tool into a steep cavity. The inclusion of a 60-degree V-tool and a micro #9 veiner ensures that once the volume is established, you can immediately move into high-contrast detailing and shadow definition within the same workflow.
